On August 2, 1986, the 2nd Annual Miss Asian of California Pageant was held at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, CA, a celebration of talent and empowerment. This event, conceptualized by the visionary founder Rose Chung, aimed to provide a platform for Asian women to shine.
Mona Ann Lee emerged as the radiant Miss Asian of California, a testament to her poise and eloquence. Joining her were distinguished participants Nancy Yong, Jane Matsumoto Holybee, Donna Morrill, and Marci Helene Popadopoulos, each showcasing their unique talents and charisma.
Since that momentous win, Mona Lee Locke’s journey has been marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence and empowerment. Transitioning from the pageant stage to the world of communications, Mona became a distinguished TV reporter before serving as Washington state’s first lady (1997-2005), where her advocacy and leadership resonated with communities across the state.
Mona’s accomplishments in communications have earned her respect and admiration, and she continues to explore new avenues for positive impact. Today, Mona Lee Locke stands as a beacon of inspiration for young professionals, exemplifying the power of resilience, adaptability, and innovative thinking.
