San Francisco, CA — August 8, 1992 — The 8th Annual Miss Asian America Pageant, held at the Palace of Fine Arts, featured 17 exceptional contestants from various cultural backgrounds, vying for the coveted Miss Asian America title.

In a dazzling display of talent and grace, Ashley Yamada, 21, with Japanese and Caucasian heritage from Honolulu, HI, emerged as the reigning Miss Asian America. Her remarkable performance captivated the audience.

Joining Ashley in the court were Shiyena Chun, who claimed the title of Miss Asian First Princess, and Julie Esguerra secured Miss Asian California, Miss Asian Second Princess and Miss Congeniality. Sylvia Gee was celebrated as Miss Asian Third Princess, while Eleanor “Elsa” Sabas astounded with her exceptional talent.

The event celebrated not only the beauty and talent of these remarkable women but also the rich tapestry of Asian cultures in the United States.
