San Francisco, CA — August 14, 2004 — The 19th Annual Miss Asian America Pageant, a celebration of Asian beauty, culture, and talent, dazzled audiences at the historic Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The evening was a mesmerizing showcase of grace and cultural pride, featuring 22 accomplished young women who vied for the prestigious title. Buachompoo “Sai” Varee, a 21-year-old Thai native raised in Hollywood, CA, emerged as the radiant winner Miss Asian America.
The pageant court was filled with remarkable achievers who showcased their talents and poise: Kim Choy was crowned Miss Asian First Princess and Miss Asian California, Annie Tang secured the titles of Miss Asian Second Princess, while Virginia Nguyen’s exceptional dedication to community service earned her the titles of Miss Asian Third Princess and Miss Community Service. Jennifer Lee earned the title of Miss Asian San Francisco, Mariejoy Mendoza garnered the title of Miss Talent, and Kimberly Arnaldo earned the title of Miss Congeniality. Additionally, Carol Chen was recognized for her outstanding scholastic achievements.
Representing a diverse array of Asian heritages, these young women illuminated the stage with their unique strengths, reflecting unity in diversity. The Miss Asian America Pageant 2004 continued its legacy of empowering Asian American women and promoting cultural awareness. Queen Sai Varee, alongside her court, embarked on a year of service, participating in various community events and charitable initiatives. Their collective dedication echoed the pageant’s enduring mission of fostering unity, celebrating diversity, and giving back to the community.
Sai Varee continued to inspire positive change. After her reign, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Radio & Television from San Francisco State University and later competed in the Miss Thailand Universe 2007 pageant, securing 2nd runner-up. Sai’s accomplishments also included an enriching three-year contract with BBTV Channel 7 in Thailand and the completion of her MBA degree in 2011. Today, Sai resides in Los Angeles, where she continues to inspire positive change.
