San Francisco, CA — August 9, 2009 — The 24th Annual Miss Asian America Pageant at the Palace of Fine Arts showcased 22 outstanding delegates. Amy Chanthaphavong, a 27-year-old fashion design student at Parsons in New York, made history as the first Miss Asian America of Laotian descent. Her captivating traditional dance and compelling advocacy for “Promoting the Family Unit” highlighted her impressive performance. A University of San Francisco graduate in Political Science with a Business minor.
Victoria Pham, a 19-year-old business major, secured the titles of Miss Asian California and first runner-up, representing the Vietnamese community. Kristine Law earned the honors of Miss Asian Second Princess and Miss Asian San Francisco. Carolyn Fung was titled Miss Asian Third Princess. Tiffany Tam showcased exceptional talent, Patherine Phattanathum excelled in scholastic achievement, and Serim Kang stood out for her community service. Angel Chang was awarded Miss Congeniality, while Jane Hwang was recognized for her photogenic allure.
These accomplished young women, representing diverse Asian American heritages, collectively illuminated the stage with their unique strengths, emphasizing unity through diversity.
Since her reign, Amy Chanthaphavong has become an accomplished executive leader, entrepreneur, and business coach with a strong track record in GTM strategies. Her expertise spans B2B and B2C, particularly in tech startups, showcasing her ability to prioritize and lead teams. With global executive experience, Amy navigates diverse cultures with empathy.
